Dish 3: Fried Lamb Chop

Before we get started I'd just like to apologize for taking so long to post again I had some stuff going on that kept me busy. Also I recently found out my Cooking Mama 1 wasn't working so I had to move to Cooking Mama 2, which in my opinion isn't nearly as great. Anyways let's get started on Fried Lamb Chops.

Things to get:
1. Lamb Chops (around a pound should be like $18 yea this dish is pretty expensive)

2. Spreadable butter

3. Black pepper

4. Salt

5. Garlic powder (not shown)

Sides: Cherry tomatoes, broccoli, mashed potatoes (instant)

Step 1: Slice the Ingredients!
Lay out the lamb chops and cut them between the bones.

Cooking mama will ask you to choose a knife before hand.

Cut it so it looks like this

Step 2:Grind Salt and Pepper!

Grind up some salt and pepper about a 50/50 ratio. Just to lightly cover both sides.

I didn't have the fancy grinders so I just used the preground ones. yay.

Cover them like this.

Warning: I made a mistake here. In cooking mama they want you to grill the lamb first before doing this step, but I did this one first by accident. Everything still turned out ok, but this deviates from the game recipe.

Step 3: Spread on Thick!
Next we want to make some garlic butter. (In the game they don't ever specify what the spread is or how to make it so I just guessed). Scoop some butter, sprinkle in a healthy amount of garlic powder and mix together.

Next you want to spread it on both sides of the lamb chops.

Step 4: Grill it!
Next we want to grill this thing according to the directions. I did it for 10-15 minutes. To make sure it was cooked.
(high, push, push, flip, low, push push, flip, medium, high, flip)

Step 5: Set the oven!
So now we want to put the lamb chops in the oven to cook the insides. take a tray and put some tinfoil on it.

Set the oven to 5 minutes at 250 degrees C

Step 6: Arrange food!
Just set a plate and add the sides if you want to.

I added some mashed potatoes, broccoli, cherry tomatoes, and bread.

End Statements:

So I kind of flubbed up this recipe, but everything still tasted pretty good.
Advice from a REAL LIFE COOKING MAMA (my mom):

You can actually cook the porkchops in the oven at 400 degrees for 20 minutes without having to grill it. Also for a different flavor just use salt + pepper and finely chopped ginger root or a basil leaf.

Did you know? Bread is my favorite food.

Thanks as always for reading and cook like a mama whenever you can :}

Dish 2: Pork Curry Rice

Things to get:
1. Curry any kind in dry cube form will do
2. An onion (purple, white, or yellow)
3. 3 potatoes
4. 2 Carrots
5. Olive Oil
6. Pork chops (the recipe in Cooking Mama calls for like a flank of pork so you can cut thin flat slices but I used pork chops because they were on sale)

Step 1:Peel!
Peel the potatoes (use a peeler, I couldn't find mine so I knifed it and it turned out messy)

Step 2: Cut!
Cut the potatoes. Cooking Mama says to cut them into quarters, but since these were kind of big I cut them into eighths so that they wouldn't take so long to cook. (Cooking Mama also said to cut the carrots right after peeling the potatoes, but I felt that was counterproductive)

Step 3: Slice up!

Slice the carrots
First lengthwise for each so you have 4 long pieces

Then across each long piece twice so that you have 12 pieces.

I cut them further since they were a bit big

Step 4: Cut!

Cut off the top and bottom of the onion.

Cut the onion in half and peel it.

I cut it into smaller slices because again I wanted it to cook quicker.

Step 5: Slice up!
Cut the pork

I just cut them into slivers, and around the T-bone part.

Step 6: Saute
Add olive oil to the pan and turn on high heat.

Put in the potatoes first, they take the longest to cook.

I also added water in there (1/2 cup) and covered the pan to cook the potatoes faster. When the water is gone start to mix it again.

Next I added in the carrots and did the same thing with the water. Kind of feel the carrots and potatoes with the spatula/spoon

Add in the onions next.

And finally the pork. Keep stirring them all until the pork is cooked on the outside.

Step 7: Measure and add! Stew

So depending on the type of curry you use the directions may differ, but for the package I got it said to use 3 cups for half the curry in the box so I added 3 cups of water and then the cube.

Mix it all together (blow, blow, mix, low heat, add curry roux, medium heat, mix, high heat, blow, mix, low heat, mix)

Altogether I let everything cook in the stew for about 15 minutes.

And it should turn to this kind of color after a while.

The finished product with rice.

There you have it, Pork Curry Rice. I was without my critic and photographer today so it was kind of lonely today. My DS is currently down, so I'll add the Cooking Mama game pictures at a later time. Once again thanks for reading and remember to cook like mum!

Dish 1: Fried Fish

First I'd like to thank my "photographer" Alan who helped me take the pictures, and my "critic" Steph who actually tasted the food.

Things to get:

1. Fish! I got tilapia from Ralph's. 2 fillets for around $4.00, but you can use any fish you choose.

2. A stick of butter OR olive oil depending on what you want to use to fry your fish. Generally olive oil is healthier in small amounts.

3. Flour any kind will do.

Step 1:

Add flour to a pan, enough to coat the surface.

Step 2:
Coat!
Roll the fillet around in the pan. I rolled it 4x like in the game.

Step 3:
Melt the butter!
Butter the pan using around a 1/2 stick of butter. The game only uses a small square but that wasn't enough to fry a fish. The alternate route would be to use enough olive oil to coat the pan.

Step 4:
Pan-fry!
Pan-fry the fish. I used the directions in cooking mama. The timing was extended for the actual dish and I left the fish there for about 10 minutes. (low heat, press, press, high, flip, low, press, press, high, flip, low, press, press, high, flip, low, close lip)

Step 5:
Arrange the plate!
Arrange food on the plate. I used some boiled broccoli and carrots to add some color. Vegetables are always a good choice.

End
Steph says: This was surprisingly good for your first foray into Cooking Mama. I would suggest adding garlic salt while frying to add more flavor if you want to.

Alan says: Mmm I'm gonna make this later.

Well that ends my first dish for this blog. I'll try to do about 1 every few days. Thank you for reading and cook like mom.
